What is a Pallet Jack AMR?

A Pallet Jack AMR is an autonomous version of the ride-on electric pallet jack — the workhorse of dock-to-floor pallet handling. It inserts its forks into standard EUR or CHEP pallets at ground level, lifts them 80–100 mm off the floor, and transports them autonomously to any pre-mapped destination.

Because it operates at floor level only (no racking reach), it has a lower capital cost and simpler safety envelope than a full Forklift AMR. It is ideally suited for dock-to-staging, staging-to-conveyor infeed, and floor-level bulk storage areas where 80–90% of moves are horizontal rather than vertical.

For facilities that already have an FMR handling high-rack put-away, the Pallet Jack AMR handles the lower-value, high-volume floor moves — freeing FMRs for racking cycles and improving overall fleet ROI.

Yes, with a leveller-equipped dock. The AMR uses a dock approach algorithm that slows to 0.3 m/s at the leveller transition, verifies floor level via IMU, and enters the trailer fully autonomously. Trailer entry requires that the trailer is chocked and the dock door interlock signal is active — the robot will not enter an unsecured trailer.
The Pallet Jack AMR is ground-level only (lifts 100 mm for transport — no racking). The Forklift AMR reaches up to 6 m into racking systems. The Pallet Jack AMR has a lower purchase price and simpler safety footprint. Most facilities use both: Pallet Jack AMR for dock-to-floor horizontal moves, Forklift AMR for racking put-away and retrieval — the two complement each other in a full inbound/outbound flow.
A typical Pallet Jack AMR deployment takes 2–4 weeks from hardware delivery to go-live: 2–3 days for environment mapping (SLAM walk), 1 week for WMS integration testing, and 1 week for operator training and supervised production running. No floor markings or racking modifications are required — the fastest AMR type to deploy.
